A deep tissue facial massage is a type of facial that focuses specifically on the face to restore youthful tone and contour. It’s often recommended as a way to reduce lines and wrinkles, improve skin texture, and increase blood flow to the face.

In this treatment, a technician uses their fingers or hands to massage your face in specific patterns. The pressure may be firm at times, but it shouldn’t be painful. The therapist will also use steam, extractions (when necessary), and other techniques depending on your skin type.

This type of facial can be helpful for people who have fine lines around their eyes or mouth, but it isn’t recommended for those with deep wrinkles or hyperpigmentation (brown spots) because it may worsen these conditions. It’s also not great if you’re pregnant or have sensitive skin; talk to your doctor before receiving this treatment if you fall into either category!

When you get a facial, it’s important to know what to avoid afterward. Avoid putting on makeup or other facial products for at least 6 hours after your treatment. While your skin is still fresh and sensitive, applying makeup will just make your skin more irritated.

Also avoid picking at your skin or use abrasive skincare products like scrubs for at least 72 hours after your treatment. Your skin needs time to heal and recover from the deep cleanse and exfoliation that facials provide.

Stay away from direct heat for up to 48 hours after your treatment. This includes saunas, hot tubs, and sunbathing (yes, even if it’s cloudy outside). All of these things can cause irritation on top of an already sensitive face!
